John Schnall, independent animator extraordinaire (see DEATH LAUGHS AMONG US) woke up one afternoon and said "Where oh where can a client turn to for out-of-the-ordinary animation in a wide variety of techniques and styles, yet on a budget that said client could afford?" He went back to sleep again, and when he woke up the next day and filed the appropriate paperwork, QUALITY SCHNALLITY, INC. was born.
One word: John Schnall. OK, that's two words, but what John Schnall brings to each project is a vast arsenal of animation techniques combined with a funky hands-on approach to filmmaking. He's always looking for that new animation technique, that approach no-one's tried yet. In several of his films (such as GOODNIGHT NORMA... GOODNIGHT MILTON... and I WAS A THANKSGIVING TURKEY), the images are drawn on paper, colored and glued onto cels. GRIM is composed of about ten different graphic techniques. FRANKENSTEIN expands a technique Schnall invented for an MTV id where sequential still photos of actors are combined with drawn animation using rips within the image (the film also uses a unique crayon and water-color drawing style and stop-motion animation of a three-foot-long cockroach...) And BUY MY FILM! continues where FRANKENSTEIN left off, adapting the "rules" of limited animation to a pixillated live character.
Well, what works for Schnall's films can work for you. So if you're looking for a unique animation style for a commercial, film project, or whatever, think QUALITY SCHNALLITY!
